Who we are

Etnik Development S. A. ("Etnik", "we") operates this website and the jewelry boutique in Casco Antiguo, Panama City. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.

Address. Av. A y Calle 3a Oeste, Casco Antiguo, Panama City, Republic of Panamá.
Email. info@etnikpanama.com

For anything concerning privacy, write to that address and we will answer personally.

The short version

This website has no accounts, no shopping cart, no newsletter, no analytics and no advertising cookies. We do not build profiles of visitors and we do not track anyone across the web. The only personal data we actually hold is what you send us yourself when you write to us on WhatsApp.

What the site stores on your device

No cookies. The site sets a single technical entry in your browser's session storage, named etnik-visited, whose only job is to stop the loading animation from replaying as you move from page to page. It contains no personal data and your browser deletes it when you close the tab.

Third parties that receive data

Fonts are hosted by us. The typefaces on this site are served from our own domain, not from Google. Opening a page sends nothing to Google.

Google Maps. The map on the contact page is not loaded until you press "Load the map". Until you do, nothing is sent to Google. If you press it, Google receives your IP address and the data normally associated with an embedded map.

WhatsApp and Instagram (Meta). These receive data only if you choose to open them, by writing to us or by clicking the link in the footer.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other analytics or advertising service.

Legal basis for processing

When you write to us, we process your data on the basis of your own request, in order to take steps at your request before entering into a contract and to reply to your enquiry. In GDPR terms this is Article 6(1)(b), and where your message is a general question rather than a purchase, our legitimate interest in answering it, Article 6(1)(f).

Loading the map is optional and happens only if you press the button, so it rests on your consent, Article 6(1)(a). You can simply not press it.

Data leaving your country

We are based in Panamá, so writing to us means your message is handled outside the European Union. Panamá has not received an adequacy decision from the European Commission.

The same applies to the two optional services above: WhatsApp and Instagram are operated by Meta, and the map is served by Google. Both are United States companies and both process the data under their own terms and their own transfer safeguards. If you would rather avoid this, you can contact us by email instead of WhatsApp, and you can leave the map unloaded.

The contact form

The form on the contact page does not send anything to us, and there is no server behind it. It simply composes a message and opens WhatsApp with the text ready. Nothing is transmitted until you send it yourself from WhatsApp.

When you write to us on WhatsApp

We receive the name you give us, your phone number and the content of your message.

Why. To answer you and, where relevant, to arrange a purchase or a visit to the boutique.

How long. We keep the conversation as long as it is useful for that purpose and delete it when it is no longer needed. We do not set a fixed term.

What we do not do. We do not use your number to send promotions, news or bulk messages, and we do not add you to broadcast lists. We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties. WhatsApp is operated by Meta, which handles the message under its own terms.

Your rights

Under Panamanian Law 81 of 2019 on the Protection of Personal Data you may ask us to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to its processing, or receive it in a portable form.

Write to info@etnikpanama.com and we will answer personally. If you are in the European Union, the GDPR grants you equivalent rights, which you can exercise at the same address. Where a right rests on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting what was done before you withdrew it.

Complaints

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first. We would rather fix it directly.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Panamá this is the Autoridad Nacional de Transparencia y Acceso a la Información (ANTAI). If you are in the European Union, you may complain to the data protection authority of the country where you live or work.

Minors

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to this policy

If anything here changes, for example if we ever add analytics, the new version will be published on this page with a new date, and the site will be updated accordingly.

Applicable law

Republic of Panamá, Law 81 of 2019 and its implementing regulations.
